Covid 19 Information for Parents and Carers

Dear Parents,

We are all looking forward to welcoming you all back on Monday March 8th.  Please read this letter carefully as it outlines what we all need to do to keep our school community safe. Please note that the times for Y6 and siblings have changed.

Start and End times

Year group

Start time

End time

9.00  * earlier start time.

3.00  * earlier finish time

PLEASE NOTE IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE CHILD AT THE SCHOOL PLEASE BRING ALL YOUR CHILDREN AT THE TIME YOUR YOUNGEST STARTS AND PICK THEM UP AT THE TIME YOUR OLDEST FINISHES.  For example if you have children in reception, Y1, Y4 and Y6 bring them all to start at 8.30 and pick them all up at 3.00.

Please line up outside the main playground gate at the time above. Please keep your distance by standing on the marked red lines and line up in front of the offices coming through the staff car park.  IT IS A ONE WAY SYSTEM. When you have dropped your child /children off through the playground gate, you will then need to continue round and out onto the road through the main pedestrian gate. Staff will be at the gate and the children will line up in their class bubble on the playground.  We ask that you are prompt and stick to these times please as we need to get all the children in safely and quickly.  At the end of the day please follow the same system-ie line up outside the playground gate in front of the offices on the red lines.  Please do not gather at the school gate, but join the queue to come and collect your child.  Please make sure you wear a face covering.  It is important that you follow these rules to help keep us all safe.

Parents are not to enter the school building or playgrounds without making an appointment first. Thank you.

Children must wear normal school uniform.  They can bring a coat, their lunch bag, a water bottle and a bag.  These will be kept in their lockers.  The children will have their own pencils, pens etc at school and these, along with their books, will be kept in a drawer underneath their desk.  The children will wash their hands every time they enter or leave the school, before and after any food and regularly throughout the day. This is because coronavirus is an easy virus to kill when it is on the skin.

On your child’s PE day please can they come to school in their PE kit to avoid changing at school.  This needs to be the school coloured PE T-shirt, black or blue PLAIN joggers or school shorts [if it is warm] and their school jumper or cardigan and trainers/ pumps.

As you will know attendance is compulsory from March 8th.  If your child is unwell it is ESSENTIAL that you call school before 8.30 on 01270 685770, and tell us your child’s symptoms in case they need to get tested.

Pupils must not come into the school if:

• they have one or more coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms

• a member of their household (including someone in their support bubble or childcare bubble if they have one) has coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms

• If they are required to quarantine having recently visited countries outside the Common Travel Area

• they have had a positive test

They must self isolate for 10 days from the start of their symptoms

If anyone in school develops a new and continuous cough or a high temperature, or has a loss of, or change in, their normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia), we:

• will send them home to begin isolation - the isolation period includes the day the symptoms started and the next 10 full days

• ask you to follow the guidance for households with possible or confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) infection

• ask you to arrange to have a test as soon as possible to see if they have coronavirus (COVID-19)

Other members of their household (including any siblings and members of their support or childcare bubble if they have one) should self-isolate. Their isolation period includes the day symptoms started for the first person in their household, or the day their test was taken if they did not have symptoms.

If your child experiences sickness / diarrhoea, headaches, unexplained tiredness, muscle and body aches, nasal congestion and a sore throat they need to self isolate for 48 hours, and if symptoms worsen or persist they will need to go for a COVID test.

Please ensure that school has an up to date phone number that we can contact you on and please make sure your phone is switched on during the school day.  This is extremely important as if a child develops symptoms we will need to send them home immediately.

The children will be in class bubbles, and will not be mixing with other bubbles.  There will be staggered break and lunch times.

If you have any questions could you please email me on head@edleston.cheshire.sch.uk or send me a dojo message or call me on 01270 685770.

May I take this opportunity to thank you for home schooling the children during this very difficult time.  I would also like to thank the staff for working so hard throughout lockdown, and continuing to provide lessons for children both in and out of school.

We look forward to getting back to some sort of normality at the end of the summer term.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs R Bagni
